Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana(PMBJP):

The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) is an initiative launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals to provide affordable and quality medicines to the masses. To achieve this, PMBJP stores have been established to offer generic drugs that are equivalent in quality and efficacy to expensive branded drugs but are available at lower prices. The campaign was initially launched in November 2008 under the name Jan Aushadi Campaign and is now being implemented by the Pharmaceutical & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI).

JAN AUSHADHI SCHEME:

The Jan Aushadhi Scheme is a remarkable initiative launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with Central Pharma Public Sector Undertakings. The primary objective of the scheme is to provide quality medicines to the general public at affordable prices.

To achieve this, Jan Aushadhi stores have been established nationwide, which are equipped to provide high-quality generic drugs at highly discounted prices. The scheme also aims to promote awareness among the public through education and publicity campaigns to spread the message that the high prices of drugs do not necessarily imply higher efficacy and potency.

The Jan Aushadhi Scheme also encourages doctors, especially those working in government hospitals, to prescribe generic medicines to their patients to reduce the financial burden on the patients and make healthcare more accessible to the underprivileged sections of society.

Overall, the Jan Aushadhi Scheme is a commendable initiative that has significantly contributed to making healthcare more affordable and accessible to the general public.
